Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

Sam was experiencing a little down. He wanted to have a new buddy to play with. One day, while he was running in the yard, he spotted something different. It was a little animal with bright scales. Sam quietly walked over to the creature and asked, "Hello! What's your title?" The creature smiled and replied Sam, "I'm Lily!" And so, Sam made a new companion. They spent the rest of the day playing together.
Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be great pals forever.
